چکیده
Abstract Machine Translation (MT), the process by which a computer engine such as Google Translate or Bing automatically translates text from one language into another without any human involvement, is increasingly used in professional, institutional and everyday contexts for wide range of purposes. While growing number studies has looked at professional translators translation students, there currently lack research on non-translator users uses multilingual contexts. The CAT2 Machine Translation System, developed in Saarbr ucken in 1987, is a natural language application coded entirely in Prolog. Since its initial development, several languages have been implemented on an experimental basis to evaluate the translation methodology, the underlying formalism, the linguistic descriptions, and the e ectiveness of the Prolog implementation. Seven years later, it...
متن کاملSupporting Multilingual Document Production: Machine Translation or Multilingual Generation?
In this paper, we look at the current scenario in multilingual documentation generation, identifying the reasons for the introduction of computational tools into the process and the types of tools currently provided in support of the translation tasks. We note that certain requirements of the multilingual documentation task cannot be satisfied by the tools currently available and identify what ...
متن کاملActive Learning for Multilingual Statistical Machine Translation
Statistical machine translation (SMT) models require bilingual corpora for training, and these corpora are often multilingual with parallel text in multiple languages simultaneously. We introduce an active learning task of adding a new language to an existing multilingual set of parallel text and constructing high quality MT systems, from each language in the collection into this new target lan...
متن کاملControlled Language for Multilingual Machine Translation
In this paper, we present an overview of the issues in designing a controlled language, the implementation of a controlled language checker, and the deployment of KANT Controlled English for multilingual machine translation. We also discuss some success criteria for introducing controlled language. Finally, future vision of KANT controlled language development is discussed.
متن کاملMultilingual Subjectivity Analysis Using Machine Translation
Although research in other languages is increasing, much of the work in subjectivity analysis has been applied to English data, mainly due to the large body of electronic resources and tools that are available for this language. In this paper, we propose and evaluate methods that can be employed to transfer a repository of subjectivity resources across languages. Specifically, we attempt to lev...
